New Year Times Square

http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=johnrap11 An original poem about New Years Eve is read by an animated character while a slideshow rolls behind. Below is the full text of the poem. On the final day of the year we were all preparing Putting on things that were new, sparkling and daring. Cheerful and hopeful we traveled out to the square Knowing that we'd meet many friends, old and new there. Ma and I strolled arm and arm to our annual date While the kids ran ahead for they just couldn't wait To see musical performances from the latest acts Peppered with jibber jabber from some talk show hacks Only tonight the fans wear hats more outlandish than the stars Even joining the melody with instruments like pots, pans and cars close to midnight we say good bye to the ending year While making resolutions we'll soon approach without fear With just one minute to go the great toy starts to fall Coalescing the masses to chant one and chant all Counting down backwards from ten rhythmically to one Then just past that final number unleashing the fun Confetti, noisemakers and balloons create pandemonium While you stare into the eyes of your one and only one That first kiss after midnight is sweetened by a toasts That you share with those present plus the new class of ghosts Forgetting what has passed and forging new creation It will all get started after a brief hibernation For the next great journey, our collective new quest Will get started after one well earned day of rest
